Project

"Train to transform". Thinking ecology, economy and humanism together.

Our 3 dimensions

Training : Immersions, testimonies, exchanges

• On-site and online trainings
• For students, professionals and teachers
• "Head-Heart-Hands" pedagogy and 6 gates methodology
• Transdisciplinary speakers

Research : Action-oriented and transdisciplinary, ethical questionings

• Serving the eco-place's activities (mobility, low-impact...)
• Closely linked with the training on offer
• Great Transition Handbooks
• A practical link between research laboratories and the lived experimental transition

Experiment : An ecoplace of welcome and with a receptive learning community

• The transition experimented over time, long or short, by employees and volunteers
• Ecological management of the castle and the grounds
• Reconnection to oneself, others and nature

Convictions

  • The ecological and climate emergency continues to intensify despite repeated warnings by scientists for decades.
  • Exceeding social and global boundaries is already visible and lifestyles are changing too slowly.
  • No structural change can occur without an alignment of enterprises with social and environmental issues and a challenge to economic models.
  • The partitioning of student training in Higher Education is incompatible with an understanding and a power to act to meet these challenges.

Our beneficiaries

Our Vision & Mission

Le Campus de la Transition, a committed actor of the Oasis network

Ambition

This network, led by the Oasis Cooperative, today brings together more than 1100 collective eco-locations that experiment with new ways of living together : participatory habitats, eco-hammers, collective farms, etc...

The Campus works in particular with the Oasis Cooperative around :

  • The T-Campus project The Campus initiated the T-Campus training with the Colibris association when this association was still carrying the Oasis project. Since the Oasis Cooperative, the project has become tripartite between the Transition Campus, Colibris and the Oasis Cooperative. As part of this partnership, the Oasis Cooperative organizes study trips for T-Campus students. During the 2021 edition, the Cooperative Oasis organized 3 trips to Brittany, the South West and the Rhône-Alpes region, to meet more than 15 oasis members of the cooperative network. These study trips allow participants to discover the great diversity of these places and to experience life in collective eco-locations.

  • From the Oasis Festival The Campus participates annually in the Oasis festival, the annual meeting of French eco-locations. As such, the members present conduct workshops and describe the project experience to people wishing to create or join a collective eco-location.

  • A research project on the impact of oasis, through a study on the application of the indicator of relational capacity to about ten d This study examined the Shared Castle in Savoie, Mascobado in Montpellier, the Ecohameau du Plessis in Eure-et-Loir and the Campus de la Transition. This initial work, supported by ADEME as part of a grant to the Oasis Cooperative, showed its relevance and a more extensive study was launched in 2021 on a larger number to see how to apply this indicator in detail. Scientific publications and a symposium are planned in 2022 to complete this research.

The Transition Campus Oasis shares the cooperative's common values: sobriety, sharing, solidarity, resilience and friendliness. Thanks to its approaches in terms of agroecology, eco-construction, mutualisation, adapted governance and openness to the world – the five fundamental principles of the Oasis Cooperative – the Campus actively participates in the development of the new ecological and solidarity places that shape the world of tomorrow.
